Some key pronunciations issues; Flemish is very gutteral, and has many odd (to us) diphtongs.
The "G" is like clearing your upper back pallete, like a doggie-growl. Hence God is "Hohd".
Anything with an "ij" is like a "ay" sound... hence zij is "zay", Hij is "hay", zijn is "zayn". 
Die is "dee" weer is "wear" Het is "hut"        Ui is "aou", starting with an "apple" sound of a, hence kruis sounds "kraous"
