O sing with us the loving power of God / God whose tender care and mercy we all know. Knowing this we live our lives and trust God's Power / Power to live a life of grace wherever we may go.

1. I sought the Lord and afterwards I knew that he moved my soul to seek him, seeking me. It was not so much that I found thee, savior true; No, in truth it was I that was found by thee.
2. For you stretched your hand out towards me to enfold. And I walked and did not sink in the storm-tossed sea. It was not so much on thee I took my hold, As it was you, dear Lord, who took hold of me.
3. I_ find, I watch, I love, but O, the whole / of this love is but my answer, Lord, to thee. It was you who were for so long within my soul; It was you from the start who always loved me.

Cultural Note: The refrain uses a rhyming scheme known as linked assonance, where the last word of a line is linked to the first word of the next line, attempting an "Hawaiian" style of rhyme.
